We returned to Canto for another art-filled day as Baguio-based artists Aileen Kim and Ayra Galanza share their techniques with workshops on watercolor painting and calligraphy.
In our opinion, the best place to teach art is outdoors, so Canto makes the perfect venue as a getaway from the busy city life and instead offering a relaxing learning environment.
We met Aileen at the Baguio Craft Fair last month, and we got the privilege of seeing her at work again with her mastery of the art of water coloring.
She taught her students different techniques such as playing with textures and creating color values.
We loved seeing her students come up with beautiful results from the techniques they have learned from Aileen. We couldn’t even tell that some of them were beginners in the art. Wow!
On the other side, Ayra, who was also present at last month’s Craft Fair, taught her students the elegant writing art known as calligraphy.
She instructed her students on the proper handling and control of a calligraphy pen, emphasizing when to use pressure to create smooth strokes.
Ayra kept encouraging her students to keep practicing with their lines and strokes, gradually building up to write letters and words beautifully.
Aileen and Ayra have both said that Canto hopes to hold even more workshops in the future. That’s definitely something to look forward to!
