Imagine this. It’s a cozy kind of afternoon. You’re in a cute little cafe in Paris, sipping on your much needed dose of coffee (or tea) and savoring a well-deserved slice of cake. Well, you don’t need to actually be in France to enjoy a little afternoon delight. Where you want to be is in Glyco Sweetshop.
Baguio’s got quite a handful hidden treasure troves for desserts, and if you love sweets as much as we do, you’d go anywhere for it. So we had to go visit Glyco, nestled in the seemingly ordinary neighborhood of PNR.
We instantly fell in love with the place, despite its small size, which is part of its charm. We love the all white interior. It makes their colorful cakes and pastries pop.
And the window seat. Who doesn’t love a good window seat?
For the Red Velvet fans out there, you won’t be disappointed, and you’ll get your cravings satisfied with cupcake or a slice or two (or three!). Heck, make it a whole cake!
For the cupcakes, we went for the Strawberry Cupcake with Strawberry Yogurt Frosting (PHP40), Taro Cupcake with Peanut Caramel Buttercream (PHP40), and Double Chocolate with Salted Caramel Buttercream (PHP40). Each cupcake was moist and fluffy. We seriously could stay here for hours with a cupcake or two of each variant and be happy customers because they are definitely the MVP in the cupcake arena. We also had one Cake Pop (PHP18) just because.
Most people would usually want tea with their dessert, but we like coffee with ours. Especially if it’s freshly French-pressed. Try saying that three times.
Glyco’s sweets are definitely pasalubong-worthy.
During our dine-in here, people would be coming in and out to take home their sweets. Whether you’re six or twenty-four, we think your eyes would glisten the same way with excitement when you see these pastries coming in from the front door.
Glyco is located just beyond Victory Liner. So if you’re waiting for your bus or if you just happen to want to get your sugar fix, head on to Glyco Sweetstop.
