As the Philippine-Japanese Frienship Month drew to a close, Baguio had one more magical event at hand, and that is none other than Cosplay Tanabata, where enthusiasts of anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture got together for food, festivities, and friendship. This two-day event was overwhelmingly filled with fun, so we’ll let the pictures do most of the talking today. Here are some snapshots from the fantastic event.
There were lots of different snacks to try out like burgers, ramen, rice toppings, and even desserts. One of the favorites we noticed was the fried Japanese street food.
There was no lack of stalls for all kinds merchandise as well, from cute knick knacks and memorabilia to cosplay accessories.
Who wouldn’t be impressed by this amazing collection of figurines. These characters look just about ready to come to life at any moment.
There was also lots of fun to be had with a whole day filled with non-stop activities. There was singing, there was dancing, and of course, the Cosplay Contest, among many others!
One of the things we love about the event is that everyone’s just out there to have fun, win or lose. Everyone would still cheer you on as you danced or sang your heart out.
Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without a song from Miku, and she totally owned the stage.
Even kids joined in, dressed up in little costumes and kimonos. So kawaiiiii!
Whether or not they were joining the Cosplay Contest, there were lots of great cosplays that people carried so well. We were probably not the only ones who would gasp and point, “OMG it’s -insert name of favorite anime character here-”
Cosplay Tanabata was a Tribute to Studio Ghibli, and we love that No Face made a special appearance.
It’s the people who made the event so great. There were smiles everywhere, and people were cheering each other on and taking pictures with one another. Someone even initiated a random conga line!
There were groups of attendees who were total Friendship Goals and Relationship Goals <3
Funny how you can express and be yourself, while dressed as someone else! And this is what makes conventions like Cosplay Tanabata a super magical and inclusive experience. We can’t wait for another event just like this.
