Some restaurants have live bands to keep their guests entertained; others have karaoke. As for Red Rustikz, their main attraction is their open kitchen.
Really, it’s the first thing you see upon entering the restaurant, because of their stainless steel kitchen utilities and their chefs busy preparing the meals. This got us definitely excited to order.
And once we made our orders, we watched the chefs do their thing. Each chef having his own station.
One of our meals was ravioli, a dish we’ve only seen in cooking shows. But it was definitely more fascinating to see it being prepared in person. You’d go “oooohhh…” and “aaahhhh…” and “so that’s how it’s done.”
Soup was served while waiting. Today, we had the salmon soup, which had melt-in-your-mouth salmon belly.
But when our main dishes finally came, our eyes were glistening with excitement to taste the European meals prepared for us.
(Creamy Ravioli – P225) Of course we had to try out the ravioli first. The handmade pasta with the cream sauce was a heavenly combination. Inside was a spinach and cheese mixture that complemented each other. Don’t let looks deceive you, despite its lightness and soft texture, it’s enough to fill your tummy.
(Herb Stuffed Chicken – P195) Next up was the Herb Stuffed Chicken which was also another creamy dish. The cashew nuts provided a crunchy contrast to the tender chicken. The dish didn’t come with rice, but the potatoes made up for that. Fun fact: the herbs used in the dishes might have come from a cute little garden they have outside.
(House Burger – P195) Lastly, burger lovers out there MUST try their House Burger. The thick, juicy patty is their own special recipe. That, coupled with fries, is simply delish and fulfilling!
Moving on to the drinks, which are also made in front of the customers at their bar.
(Coffee Ice Cream – P145) The Coffee Ice Cream was definitely the fanciest drink we have ever seen. It’s separated into three layers. The first is the ice cream with popping bobba resting on a layer of hard chocolate, which gives the vanilla ice cream a fruity flavor in your mouth. The second layer is the coffee drink, and the third layer is purely decorational, but the mint leaves on chocolate flakes looks like a little terrarium.
(Caramel Macchiato – P95) Red Rustikz serves a variety of caffeine drink for coffee lovers, which can be ordered either hot or cold. (Caramel Macchiato – P95)
(Frapporeo – P135) They also have shakes and frappes in either coffee-based or fruit-based varieties.
Red Rustikz has a classy, modern interior design with some hints of vintage elements and great use of outdoor lighting, so maybe you’re wondering, what’s so rustic about that?
For us, the rusticity is found in the heart that comes with their meals. It’s the feeling you get when eating something genuine, as if made by mom herself (if mom was European). It’s also found in the hospitality of the servers who make sure your glass is always filled with water. It’s the simple things that make Red Rustikz rustic.
Red Rustikz had just opened in February this year, and another unique thing to mention about the restaurant is that they change their menu every month to keep the place different and exciting. So what we have written about here may not be what’s on the menu by the time you get there. But that’s the fun of it. You’re going to have to try Red Rustikz’s cuisine for yourself and see what surprises you’ll get.
Red Rustikz is located in Upper General Luna, and is open from 10am to 10pm.
